To our friends, families & colleagues:
On Nov 1., Crowdtap’s team of seven runners took to the streets of Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan and the Bronx in the running of the 2015 TCS NYC Marathon. For New Yorkers, the marathon marks one of most moving days of the year, as millions of people line the streets in rare harmony to support a field of 50,000+ runners.
This year’s race was particularly near and dear to our hearts here at Crowdtap. Earlier this summer, we selected Fred’s Team – an amazing organization that supports New York’s own Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) – as our charity of choice. We dedicated our training efforts, and all of the ups and downs that come with them, to the incredible doctors at MSKCC who are working day in and day out on groundbreaking cancer research initiatives that help save lives.
We selected Fred’s Team because cancer is something touches all of us in one form or another. Several members of Crowdtap’s marathon team have had loved ones faced with the unspeakable challenge of fighting cancer, and one of our runners has a relative who is currently being treated by the team at MSKCC.
Back in August, we set out with an initial goal of raising $10,000 for Fred’s Team. Blown away by the immediate outpour of support from our friends, families and Crowdtap colleagues, we later established a stretch goal of raising $25,000 by the starting gun at this year’s marathon. By Oct. 31, we had raised $29,400. And then something pretty special happened.
With hours to go before the race, the Crowdtap family rallied around us in support of Fred’s Team and MSKCC to put us over the $30,000 mark. To say that this touching display of support was an inspiration as we boarded our buses and ferries to the race start is an understatement. We cannot thank our colleagues at Crowdtap enough for their continued generosity over the past three months.
By the time the race ended, and all seven of us had crossed the finish line, Team Crowdtap had raised $32,620 for Fred’s Team and MSKCC. We could not have accomplished either feat without the support of our friends, family and colleagues. We would like to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who donated and cheered us on along the way! We’re proud to be part of a company where giving back is core to our culture and our mission.
While our marathon journey has ended, the fight against cancer continues. If you’re interested in learning more about how you can support Fred’s Team and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, we encourage you to visit their websites to learn more.
